Museums and Galleries
Cape Town offers many world class museums and galleries – from our National Gallery which houses art both international and South African, to the District 6 museum dedicated to those who were forcibly removed by the Apartheid government in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
The Jewish Museum honours all who were part of the Holocaust and the many Jewish immigrants to our shores who played a prominent part of the development of our Nation.
The Gold of Africa museum is home to a collection of over 350 West African gold artefacts from ancient civilisations.
The Cape Town Museum is the oldest museum in sub Saharan Africa and is designed to stimulate and inform.
The Planetarium is next door to this museum to complete the intellectual experience!
The Castle of Good Hope on the Foreshore is the oldest surviving building in South Africa and is a unique combination of art, history, wine, traditional food and the military.

The Heart Museum honours Prof. Chris Barnard and his support staff who performed the world’s first heart transplant.
